Electronic goods rarely fail in transit because a box burst. They fail because a corner was dropped, a component shifted and struck the casing, or moisture crept in over a long humid coastal haul. Packaging electronics is less about raw strength and more about controlling exactly how a product sits and how it is protected from three specific threats: shock, static and moisture.

Point impact and drop protection
Most damage claims trace back to a corner or edge drop, not a flat drop. Corner and edge reinforcement, along with correctly positioned foam or corrugated inserts, absorb that impact before it reaches the product. Double-wall or triple-wall board is often justified here even when the product itself is light, because the risk is concentrated force, not distributed weight.
Snug die-cut inserts and corner reinforcement
A product that can move inside its box will eventually damage itself. Die-cut corrugated inserts, partitions and corner blocks should hold the item firmly with minimal clearance, so vibration during transit does not translate into repeated small impacts against the carton wall.

ESD-safe poly liners, bags or foam sheets used inside the carton are a separate specification decision from the box strength calculation, and both need to be agreed with the packaging supplier at the same time.
Humidity and desiccants
Chennai's coastal humidity softens paper fibres over time, and electronic products are additionally sensitive to condensation inside a sealed pack. Desiccant sachets, moisture-barrier liners and, where the product warrants it, higher GSM outer board all reduce this risk on longer transit routes or extended warehouse dwell times.
Retail-ready print and returns handling
Where the corrugated carton is also the retail-facing unit, print quality, barcoding and tamper-evidence become part of the specification. Equally, electronics carry a higher rate of returns than many other categories, so the pack should be designed to be reopened and resealed without losing its protective function.
